13. Another Mundane Week

What have I been up-to last week?

It was a very busy week workwise. I tried to read the books as much as possible but I was not that disciplined. I guess it’s because I was too focused on work. However, I managed to finish the article that I was working on for the blog. I’m happy about that article and I feel that it is well written. That’s just my personal opinion, I don’t think anyone other that myself have read it. My plan is to promote the website after finishing at least 10 posts.

I’ve also spent sometime experimenting on vimscript. I’m still a newbie at vimscript, but I enjoy it immensely. The way that vim allows you to transform a traditional text editor into a very powerful, customized development environment is pretty amazing. I feel that none of the IDEs can be developed to accomodate all the needs of a developer. It’s upto the developer to configure the system according to their needs. In that aspect, configurable editors like vim, easily wins the battle.

How is everything else?

Corona situation in Sri Lanka has taken a trun to the worst. It’s pretty aweful to feel that it might take a while before I can go back home and meet family. That feeling is never easy. America and Europe are hit by the second wave and it’s shocking how they fumble when handling the epidemic.

What am I reading?

 - Sapiens, A brief history of humankind (201 / 480 = 41.4 %)
 - C++ Programming Language (246 / 1279 = 19.2 %)
 - From Mathematics To Generic Programming (77 / 312 = 24.7 %)

Any good TV shows or movies?

  1. Chicago 7
  2. The challenger: Last flight
  3. Just mercy

Any new learnings?

Nothing much apart from reading C++ books.

Backlog

That’s a week!
