15. The New Hobby

So, it has been a while since I posted something. I had a lot of issues with priorities the last few weeks. I’m glad that I finally decided to pen down an entry.

What have I been up-to last week?

I started a new hobby two weeks back. I bought a DJ controller and started learning the art of DJing. I never thought I would be so drawn into the art of mixing. I am still at very basic level. However, it feels so good when two songs blend together well. It is also great that I could get myself exposed to a totally different eco-system which I never knew existed. The places where DJs download music, the techniques that they use, the YouTube channels that run tutorials, it has been overwhelming.

Work at office kept me busy during the day time. I didn’t lead a feature last couple of weeks. I concentrated on joining a feature lead by someone else. It feels good to sometimes follow instead of lead.

How is everything else?

COVID situation in Australia is getting better and VIC-NSW border opened on the 23rd of Nov. That is definitely good news. However, the situation at home is not getting better. I personally don’t believe that the government can do anything at this stage. Given the amount of resources we have and the economic pressure COVID has on SL, it must be really tough to run the country at this stage. The sad part is it makes us completely dependent on foreign loans.

What am I reading?

 - Sapiens, A brief history of humankind (254 / 480 = 52.9 %)
 - C++ Programming Language (312 / 1279 = 24.4 %)
 - From Mathematics To Generic Programming (129 / 312 = 41.3 %)

Any new learnings?

Nothing much apart from reading C++ books.
