8. MSc Done and Dusted

It was a pretty good week. Interesting things happened at work and in life!

What have I been up-to last week?

I was very busy at work. I was helping a lot of people and trying to figure out some of the things on my own as well. Sometimes I felt that I don’t have enough time to learn things on my own because I spend a tad too much time helping others. However, I like to believe that it is more important.

I finished my MSc thesis work this week and did the final examination. So that’s pretty good! Now I have one more qualification under my belt. I’m not sure how much value it is going to give me for my career. However, it feels good to finally finish it.

However, my formula for training has gone astray as I was concentrating on the MSc and post thesis presentation I was in a ‘content’ mental state which was not the best when it comes to motivating yourself to learn more. I think I will be able to get back on track next week.

How is everything else?

There was a session at office about LGBTIQ+ community and what we can do to make sure that unintentionally we don’t cause any harm. It was such a good discussion because we don’t get a chance to have open discussions about these subjects. The main thing I learned is not to assume pronouns for person and ask from them if you are not sure. Also, it’s better to use gender neutral language whenever it is possible. We need to learn a little bit about people everyday and calibrate ourselves such that we cause less grief for people around us.
